1996-01-14 - Sunday - Prize Distribution

Since I don't seem to have the diary where I have written events up to 14 Jan, I can't be absolutely certain, but it would have been around this time that I was handling the mics in the Shantivedika in the stadium for sports meet practice sessions, setting up the speakers for 11th January on the night of 10th January and so on. Either it was January 1996 or January 1997 or both. There was at least one Sports Meet where only Damu Nair (one year senior) and I set up all the speakers, working throughout the night on 10th Jan.

You sprang two surprises.
(1) Special prizes for Alexandra Craxi, Ghanti Ravi Kiran & Ajnish (first two for daring motorbike jumps, Ajnish for teaching Karate). Rings for the first two, bracelet for Ajnish!
(2) You gave prizes only for houses and overall champions (ATP also), then went and caressed the rest of the prizes! "My only property are na pillalu (My children)". That made our day.

(In earlier years, You would give prizes individually to each prize-winner - for boys' campuses in the Institute Auditorium, for the girls in Primary School or at their campus.)

Afternoon Chaos class - Mr. Sriram Sastry didn't turn up.

After evening bhajan, Delhi SSS Vidya Vihar girls' program. A1. Professional recording, their own voices. Hanuman episodes - Pearl necklace, sindoor, yawn clicker - in Hindi. Nature song in Hindi - Man taught by nature, all the help done. "We love you, Swami" - small girls' action song. You were v. v. happy. Saris for all 175, photos. Backstage also, kept saying v. happy, report KBR & KVR.
