A postcard purchased when I was at Brindavan, 1992-'95 - from my 'Swami albums'
1995-04-06 - Thursday - Reached (Calicut from Bangalore by bus) at 6 am. Mostly Readers' Digest (RD). Driving Amma to "shortwave diathermy" for her leg. Tuning VCR to the 8 cable channels + Doordarshan - Asianet, Zee, BBC, Prime Sports, Sun, Star Plus, Channel V. Quite a turn away. Went completely on a tangent, mostly due to cable TV.
1995-04-07 - Friday - Sleeping in the afternoon, India-Pak match (lost by 97 runs) at Sharjah, channel surfing during commercials, RD.
(Lyrics from a song by Hari Om Sharan)
मैली चादर ओढ़ के कैसे,
द्वार तुम्हारे आऊँ,
हे पावन परमेश्वर मेरे,
मन ही मन शरमाऊँ ।.
... कभी ना तुझको ध्याया ।
1995-04-08 - Saturday - RD, Agatha Christie, sleep. No exercise. Waking around 6 am, sleeping around 10 pm. Plans to go to Brindavan for Vishu on Wednesday the 12th. I'm not eating very healthy, no exercise either, so more flab than anything else.
1995-04-09 - Sunday - (Sri Rama Navami) Wrote this. Cricket again. I thought yesterday I'll start today (on a more productive holiday), but procrastination is the thief of time ...
1995-04-10 - Monday - Again writing after four days - so I don't remember (specifics). Again and again, deadlines are ignored, chores are left undone (buying components etc.), TV rules the roost.
1995-04-11 - Tuesday - Touched War and Peace, Amma suggested Gone with the Wind, but The Wind in the Willows is more my line. Sorry for all the unpleasantness in bright blue ink (the above entries were written in bright blue in the diary), but I know just "sorry" in words isn't enough - meaningless if so ...
