1995-04-27 - Thursday - Summer holidays

1995-04-17 - Monday - Washed car, shopped in Oyitti road for components (drove myself there), changed gas light cylinder, paid electricity bill. (Gone with the Wind & Agatha Christie). Also bought hacksaw blade with handle, drill bits.

You were in the background, but present. Bhajans (at home) - very short (Achan wants them that way), but thinking of You a little bit.

1995-04-18 - Tuesday - Gone with the Wind, Hercule Poirot, couldn't solder as forgot to buy vero board. Cleaned cycle, needs tyre change. Helped Mohan (my parents' long-standing mechanic and more) in fixing stair landing window. He said he'll change the bike tyres. Rain - went driving to Supermarket with Amma at around 7. Power failure - didn't come yet ...

Again Sankashta Chaturthi! But must be a coincidence. I must finish my ablutions early to keep You in mind. A2 (parents) says who will take care of them if I don't come home ... complications.

1995-04-19 - Wednesday - "Bread may be the staff of life, but that doesn't mean the life of the staff must be one long loaf." Bought soldering iron to sandpaper, but no work started - 10k resistors missing. Immersed in 'Gone with the Wind" and a book of short stories ...

1995-04-20 - Thursday - Bought (with Amma, of course) clothes worth Rs. 1500, sent to Minerva (tailors nearby) for stitching. Sat reading 'Gone with the Wind' till one o'clock in the night.

The resolution half held, when I took out "Invitation to Glory" a few days back, seems shattered. Three days is a long time to write this ...

1995-04-21 - Friday - 'Gone with the Wind' finally over - hopefully figuratively as well as literally. Booked a W/L No. 5 (waiting list) ticket by train on 30th to Bangalore, bought all components (10k) ready for soldering. Bicycle returned with new tyres by Mohan. Dropping Anch (sister) at the bus stand (bizarre?), breakfast, a little TV, newspapers, reading, lunch, reading, taking Amma out on a spin, bath, dinner, reading, bed. Maybe I should read 'Invitation to Glory'.

1995-04-22 - Saturday - Started Maugham's "Razor's Edge" in the morning & finished it at night. Got RAC (reservation against cancellation) No. 8 ticket on 2nd May.

Unhealthy grooves are the most difficult to get out of - eg my reading addiction to novels. I know I'm deliberately ignoring You.

1995-04-23 - Sunday - Watched Top Gear (BBC), live AUS vs WI test from Trinidad, Disney adventures (DD). Did a little soldering. Drove Rajeev chettan's (my first cousin's) wife Rema chechi & her sister Satyam, went to musical fountain & beach with Ammu (niece), Anch (sister) & Satyam.

I've filled my mind with so much trash - "madame novel and madame cinema" (TV in this case) that I'm taking even bhajans casually. It's very difficult to come back to You here.

1995-04-24 - Monday - Mostly reading. A little bit of soldering was stillborn. No sustained interest as time for completion is very short.

I'm writing this on 10th May (having notes from 3rd to transcribe) but the last part of the holidays, as usual, is a black hole.

1995-04-25 - Tuesday - Agatha Christie's keeping me from mischief. I'm filling in for aesthetics; actually this (diary) was so much away from my mind in this last week that I even forgot to pack it, going to Brindavan!

1995-04-26 - Wednesday - A mystery a day, with a garnishing of Wodehouse. After going into a nosedive with all the planned schedule in pieces, limped through zombie style, immersed in Agatha Christie from dawn to dusk.

1995-04-27 - Thursday - RD is worse than anything else except maybe Sunday magazine. Except for the occasional chauffeuring, nothing else but Poirot. Mostly a reaction from the depths of the nosedive.
