My actual paper diary does not contain entries for the entrance exam or for the Summer Course. Probably I can fill in the Summer Course days with the Summer Course diary. I have some memories of the entrance exam and Summer Course, which would probably be open to correction.
- I had gone alone for the entrance, since I thought going from XII to 1st UG was not difficult.
- The South Indian Canteen was being rebuilt as a two-storey building. At that time, it was the only Canteen, and so we were having food in a temporary Canteen in a shed somewhere near the present Shanti Bhavan.
- We - alumni of SSSHSS who had come by themselves for admission to SSSIHL - were housed in one of the sheds nearby.
- On the day of our interviews, the interviews got delayed, and it was past 7:30 pm, I believe. There was a power failure, too. So, all of us alumni of SSSHSS were called in together. As the Registrar spoke to us, the VC Prof Sampath was packing his bag ready to leave! Registrar said something like, "Since all of you have studied here, I suppose you know what is expected of you. You can go." That was the end of our interview, all of us were admitted.
- We were to attend the Summer Course. In those days, Swami would give the Summer Course badges, books, pen etc (or give padanamaskar while the items were distributed) with all of us seated on the Trayee Brindavan lawns. In the Hostel, we would be packed - some 30-50 people in a 10 person dormitory. But we would have the chance of dining with Swami if we arrived early enough after the sessions at college auditorium, for lunch and dinner at the Hostel.
