There are no diary entries about the entrance exam. How we students of the Sri Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School got into UG without a formal interview was interesting, as noted in the previous post. So, all those who cleared the entrance exam from the School were selected, most of us were to join Brindavan.
Since the course I had joined was an integrated BSc (Hons) + MSc, I completed my post-graduation with only the one interview which was during the school XI entrance. This 45-minute-long interview is mentioned in the Radiosai interview. The next interview I faced was only in 2015, for my PhD entrance. That interview was not very intimidating, since many of the panellists, faculty in the Physics department, were my juniors!
At Parthi, I used to eat only chapatis for lunch and dinner, and only the non-rice item for breakfast along with a bun+butter bought the previous night from the "fruit stall". This was because I disliked rice from a young age, and would only eat chapati, dosa, etc. While travelling to Brindavan by bus to join the summer course after the entrance exam, someone mentioned that there would be no chapatis for lunch at Brindavan. I decided on the spot that I would start eating rice, and whatever is served to me in the Hostel. I think the thought process was, if giving up likes and dislikes in the matter of food is what it takes to be near Swami, then I will gladly give up those things.
Now back to the diary entries.
VC asked Swami to speak on food. Swami teased him, then agreed. He spoke in general terms, on Rajasic, Tamasic, Satwic. Before this, there was a music program, 4 to 5.30 pm, was terrific. Outside, a storm raged. Swami made as if to go after the music, but VC stopped Him, asking for Discourse etc.
This was the last year when the evening Summer Course Discourses were held in the College Auditorium. 1993 onwards, the Discourses were in Sai Ramesh Hall though the morning talks were in the College Auditorium.
