1992-11-06 - Friday - Winter showers at Prasanthi Nilayam

1992-11-01 - Sunday - "Supra bottom" Swami told Vijaya Sai. 5 AM Swami left for Parthi. 7:30 Primary + ATP, 12:00 Parthi, 3:00 PM Brindavan + Parthi (students and staff left for Parthi). Reached at 6:30 PM. No darshan. Bath only then. Rolls + cake. Slept till 5 AM.

1992-11-02 - Monday - No balcony darshan today. Some boys got interview with parents. Eating lunch from Canteen (Shed 10), Dinner + Breakfast buying at bakery - veg rolls. Swami gave sweets. My scholarship (by the government, for good performance in X /XII) has arrived. Can apply (for further installments of the scholarship, all the way to PG degree) from Brindavan now - Sivaramakrishnaiyya Sir told me. Can sit in front, 5th to 8th line on left of portico (since there are relatively few students staying back for the vacation). (Many) boys run. I don't. So, 5th to 8th row.

1992-11-03 - Tuesday - Went with (my classmate) Sikki to buy photos. Bought 4 for Rs. 20. Prints are better, I sometimes feel. Only Rs. 5 for a big one. Dhobi - Rs. 1.50 / pair. Swami is walking (among students), talking, very happy, walking through bhajan hall when Bhajan starts and coming from the back door, calling large groups for interview. Talked to Shailesh Sir about Bhajans and Borbora. (In his view, B was the most talented bhajan singer/harmonium player). Vijaya Sai will get me a cassette of his if he finds it. 

1992-11-04 - Wednesday - Winter showers! - Swami came for Balcony Darshan at 10 AM. Had icecream for lunch + dinner. Asked Him whether we can stay, "Ask Warden." At 1:45 PM, Swami was on the Balcony, supervising some unpacking, sorting. Then He came and threw down lots of Vit. L, then sketch pens (got a green one), then ball pens (nil). Stopped. After 10 minutes, travel bags (nil), T-shirts, sweaters, socks for Gopi Sir, pants (bell bottom), nil. Finally, someone said, "Swami, I didn't get" when Swami asked, "Inka evaru (who else)?" Then He started again - I got a red shawl - "for mother", He told another boy. Then, envelopes stamped, one fell into my hands without me scrambling. He also sent mikes etc + console mixer for new shed (at Brindavan, which later was named Sai Ramesh Hall) & musical instruments for Hostel - Guitars, synthesizer, naal, accordion. Swami told Sanjay Sahni Sir (Parthi Warden at that time) New Canteen food for boys on 8th, don't cook. 



1992-11-05 - Thursday - Morning "Winter Showers in Puttaparthi" shaving sets for MBA, 1/2 hour. Afternoon - pillows, cases, toothbrushes, robes, pitambars, soaps, boxes, bags, pens, creams, one hour solid. But I saw only the last 10 minutes. I went to School to get Rs. 2000/- scholarship cheque, then went to Hostel. Shailesh Sir told me XII boys are going to SSSIHMS, "Why don't you go with them?" So 5 of us went to bus stop, at 11:30 an ATP-bound bus, went, talked to Deepanjan Chatterjee (stores) B.D. and Ravi Mariwala (Heart/Lung). Amit Jayaswal's (topper, one year junior to me) uncle, sevadal, took us around. Wards, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Laundry, kitchen. BD told us to come tomorrow to go inside OT, today only "boring" closed heart surgery. I didn't get lunch - so heavy tea at Parthi Hostel - burgers (x2) + sauce and milk. Great. Venkateswarlu Sir's idea, Shailesh Sir supported. Kshitij came (along with me). 

1992-11-06 - Friday - Kshitij has composed a pair of carols. Deepanjan told me to bring Kshitij and come to the OT. No morning balcony darshan - so went, thought would return soon. But - we put on gowns and sat in the ICU - 8 beds, 15 computers, one playing chess, till 11:30. We had come by Inst. bus at 10:15. Then we went and stood in the OT. Subr Sir, Tal (Mental - RK sir's nickname) & Sundaresan Sir saw a case first. Then, we two + Sharma + Sooryanarayana sirs. Because of this, we got delayed. Saw only opening of ASD (hole) of 10 yr old C*el***h. Then went for 4 chapatis and sweet Rs. 6, canteen there. OT - 2 monitors, Heart/Lung. All were very casual, started with Sri Raghavam Alap on tape. He had to redo the stitching, so we came back just in time for darshan 3:45. But missed tapes - "Showers" afternoon one hour. Dolls stuck (on the parapet), Swami got a stick (to dislodge it) ... MBA boys' interview Swami sprinkled water and cured Himself of fever.
