1994-01-12 - Wednesday - setting up bhajan hall mixer

Image of the Bhajan Hall of old - from this article.

A3 (parents and sister) left after darshan. Power failure made me late, mandir by 6:40 am, taking suitcase to Old Hostel. Achan (Father) gave Rs. 600. S. G. Sir (Sai Giridhar Sir, Audio Visuals in-charge at Brindavan at that time) gave ice-cream we had missed yesterday, meeting as I left on the bike, congrats, Vinay's father's maangaakkatti (mango jelly) and ice-cream. Practiced songs Parthi + Brindavan at Institute Auditorium, after loading Brindavan things in the car, which is going back with the Warden.

Evening, I became totally out of Shruthi. Evening darshan, Swami talked for a long time inside Bhajan Hall - too much secrecy, so (items in Sports Meet are) repeating, useless. Brindavan - "could see only fire" - made a face. Could've built a hut instead of breaking so many tiles! Then Telugu Balvikas drama - no seats in (College) Auditorium by 6:25, so sat in foyer, ogling through the entrance. After Swami went inside, stood in corridor and watched. Fast paced, good sets, good in general. Better presentation than the Kannada film 'Bhagawan Sri Sai Baba'. Bharadwaja to Sathya Sai. Shirdi Sai was acted out, Sathya Sai was represented by a picture, Prema Sai a placard 'PREMA SAI'. All onstage finale, Siva did Arati, Parvati gave Swami matchbox. Swami wanted to, but couldn't stand for photo due to the Arati.

Waited under Mandir balcony later, He didn't come. Then helped Drs KBR Prasad and Venkataramanaiah to arrange mics etc in Mandir - snake from portico mics to mixer in Bhajan Hall - Tascam. Finally slept after writing this diary at 10:45.

This picture from the early 2000s of a private session with "Central Trust and Book Trust (CTBT) boys" shows the location of the mixer mentioned in the above paragraph, inside the bhajan hall, with Dr. KBR Prasad and Dr. Venkataramanaiah just visible to the extreme right of the frame. More about my association with Mandir audio mixing at this post.
