A group photo of Kerala students in front of Trayee Brindavan. Since this includes one batch younger and one batch older to us, I guess this must be Onam 1993.
Condensing multiple days into a single post.
1994-03-30 - Wednesday - As I'm writing this on 1st April, it's a little fuzzy in memory. Morning - took my own time with bath etc, so that till darshan got over, I didn't touch Sanskrit. Then, AVC was the refuge from cricket commentary in B1 (my room). India won as Sachin Tendulkar blasted the New Zealand bowlers out of the ground. 15x4, 2x6, 82 runs in 30-odd balls, in a one-day international. Did easy stuff first, reading text in the evening. Finally, "authorship of Bhasa" was left for study hours, and that was wasted in the office, waiting for phone calls for myself and T. M. Gopalakrishnan, which never came. Finally, "authorship" left for tomorrow. Swami did not come down for evening darshan - straightaway sat on chair, bhajans.
1994-03-31 - Thursday - Just read "authenticity" 6-7 am, couldn't see anything else. Wrote something for SANSK 401. Then, met Venkatesh Rao Sir, gave the ISKON calendar + Kannada "Himalayan Masters" + Krishna Yashoda photo + Swami's photo - very happy, advised us to work hard etc. (This was the Sanskrit teacher. Since we don't have language papers in the third year of UG, this would be the last time we would be in his class. Hence the mementos etc. We were only six of us in our batch who opted for Sanskrit. Two from commerce, two from MPC, two from Bio.) Then Girisha went to buy mementos for IIIrd year boys.
After darshan, You did not call us in (for a Trayee session). Didn't even come down, sat there itself (onstage) in red robe.
So, cancelled song in the farewell meeting (in the Hostel). Warden gave mementos as appropriate phrases were called for each boy. Not malevolent, so everybody was happy. Warden + Sanjay Krishna + Amar Singh spoke. SK thanked, W said creative, but don't collect money, "we will bear the expenses". Encourage such things in future also, but no money collection, Hostel will pay.
Then briefly met A2 (parents) who had come for darshan. Told them (will meet at) 7:45, but memento distribution took till then. Music for special dinner - put BPL & 125 (amplifier), then met A2, Chaitanya minding the tape. Had dinner after that, good except for melted raspberry icecream on fruit salad. Sachin Tendulkar's lightning 83 shown recorded. Running around made me quite tired. But "dynamic", as Sanskrit Sir wanted me to be. And W smiled at me - I'm in his good books.
