From my "Swami albums"

Condensing multiple days into a single page, since the content may be of limited interest.

1994-03-07 - Monday - No studies in the morning. Morning music program - had to take UCR + cords for recording. Forgot cassette - went to Hostel and got. 2nd piece was "Jiye to jiye kaise bin aap ke", on harmonica by Anmol, as Raj announced, but tape stuck and recording stopped. So, my resolve not to put film songs (non-devotional) remains. Hat trick - third successive Umesh Sir's class I am late for. Submitted Grade cards + major application. Returned all library books in an effort to "tighten my belt". Decided to do AVC jobs only while evening music is on, and diary night-prayer. UCR is in AVC, so can record leftovers. 4 pm - get-together of "English day" boys in Auditorium - showing video of that day's drama - had to arrange Sonodyne for sound, but apparently that doesn't work - then Videocon from Sai Giridhar Sir - too much noise - so took it back to AVC. Then, video from English department to AVC. After waiting for Anil Kumar Sir to return after sending off Japanese visitors, finally the eats - 5.15 - samosa, kachori, rosagulla, orange rasna. Then came to hostel, telling BSVS - music. Put BVC's Maharajapuram Santanam. No one objected. Maybe all of that type were in the auditorium. Study hours Physics calculations, Chemistry record. Actually I'm not able to write my thoughts. Events blot them out. Sitting in dining hall conspicuously erect with eyes closed - I felt Subramanyam Sir's and Umesh Sir's eyes on me. Anand Sai came to Office - fattened.

1994-03-08 - Tuesday - Studied 6:30 to 7:30, then disrupted by dhobi etc. Did Math 402 - bvp.Math - Subrahmanyam Sir finished off Math 401 Linear Analysis which he had "technically" finished in the last class. Chemistry classes are free. English and Sanskrit a little left. My nickname seems to be quite popular. Vidyashankar had called me ET-3 (they had shown ET-2 movie) and today Ajay Rana referred to me as ET - "You have to be an ET to like pongal".

1994-03-09 - Wednesday - Did exercises when music was on - so, alert for Suprabhatam. But that delayed brushing/bath/toilet by 15 minutes, so 6:45. But didn't start off in earnest immediately. Time wasted adds up very effectively. Finally did only a small result in bvp till going to college. Photos of Swami with plants and animals on Wisdom Wall (Hostel). Physics - finished portions. Math - he went on a guided tour of Linear Analysis, bvp still 6 classes more to go. Sanskrit got free on excuse of Physics viva, did bvp. Viva was easy enough, but I said can see distant object through collimator if adjust it, and also didn't know what Newtons's rings in white light would look like. Sundaresan Sir gave Carols (SRH) cassette. Rajesh composed piece for welcome song in AVC with headphones and recorded it into the UCR from the keyboard. bvp over by study hours. So I did a review of number of chapters etc. of Math. MRG wants Anch's advice on Med. entrance. English text over, "We'll meet in the library for the next class".

1994-03-10 - Thursday - Mahashivaratri - Holiday is tomorrow. So, classes. Math - test on 401 & 402, objectives on full syllabus, one hour, Tuesday, while he takes "revision" class for the others. Sanskrit - he says he will finish on Saturday - today for viva, he left MPC and CBZ, Commerce for BM class. Afternoon Chemistry lab - submitted record, washed till 3:30 pm. Put Shiv Aradhana in the evening. Controversy over mics at night (for the Akhanda Bhajan) - Vijaya Sai Sir wanted, but Venkatraghavan didn't want to give. Chaitanya and I went to see BSVS and disclosed the state secret, that AVC had 45 PTMs. (amplifiers). BSVS went and told Venkat, "Some boys told me they are prepared to sit through the night" - tactless. Finally Chaitanya got a lecture from Venkat. Bhajans started at 6, very good audio, c/o Venkat and the SSA125EM (amplifier). Dinner on terrace at 7:20. Relieved Chaitanya for his dinner, then sat at the back near pillar - usual place. Mics till 10:30, as KLNS Sir and Warden Sir etc sang till then, 9:30 to 10:30. Then two groups, alternating. All fast bhajans, few repeats. Could think of Swami, Krishna during some bhajans at least. But after 2 AM, difficult. 12 to 2, teachers one group, boys another. Very lively.

Swami's garland swayed in the early morning - nearly 15 minutes - I missed, eyes being closed.
