1996-02-19 - Monday - Prof fever ⇒ we went to computer lab, installed C++ on two more machines. On XT, aborted on Data Error, 7th disk! Afternoon, Sikka Sir's last soliton class. S4 reminded that this is seminar week! Borrowed transparencies from Ajay Singh (batchmate in MBA) till the day after tomorrow, hope to finish one chapter of Cherin (fabrication) and one chapter of Marcuse (profiling) by tomorrow! if I wake at 3 am or so.
1996-02-20 - Tuesday - Woke only at 5:30 am, but finished OHP sheets in college. 1st hour - Prof didn't take - not well. GWP (Guided Wave Phenomena) 39/50 (marks in mid-semester exam). MP (Mathematical Physics) 45/50. SSP (Solid State Phyics) 40/50. QM (Quantum Mechanics) - 50. Afternoon unsuccessful struggle with low voltage to get Michelson fringes. Seminar after (evening) bhajan - no power, so to be continued tomorrow. All signed "Thanks" letter for S4 on MPF printout. Tomorrow Sikka Sir's class.
1996-02-21 - Wednesday - (Ramzan) Holiday declared, so morning darshan also. Then, Sikka Sir's class, my seminar (after brunch) in Guest room. Vijayanand, GV Rao bunked. Writing seminar write-up from transparencies (when I returned to Ajay Singh washed, at 10:45 pm).
Altar evaluation - night, even after night prayer.
India thrashed Windies in day/night match, too - 5 wkts, 10 overs to spare. Id Mubarak.
1996-02-22 - Thursday - Sri Lankan High Commissioner to Malaysia spoke till 10:15 (probably in the Moral class at college, first hour on Thursdays). Then computer lab, as GV out of station and Prof let us go. Afternoon, saw bugs in my program in test.cpp. Ideas to use prj. Journey into Light during study hours - reading for entertainment - criminal! Evening, newspaper.
1996-02-23 - Friday - Morning one hour at the computer just finding itoa's problem was a wrong parenthesis. Afternoon - got some good fringes with Michelson. C++ reading mandir and study hours ⇒ many bugs as I had not made "private" "protected"! Lots of typing left. CSNK's (classmate and roommate) seminar - flop. S4 hogged. "Detector output power is square of optical power." 6:30 to 7:30 finished loss measurements.
1996-02-24 - Saturday - Did some useful work for once in KBR's practicals - tried to repair power supplies. Replacing 723 etc. C++ - hopelessly bugged program. Got remedies after the class - put in .h files, main file same name as .prj, compile to .obj each separately - Robert Lafore. Night meeting S4 on taking altars to Mandir as You're leaving tomorrow(!). Compromise - leave three altars in Old Hostel, others, take autos if Swami agrees. S4's "mother serious" - "Swami's taking care."
1996-02-25 - Sunday - Don't know whether You left by car or plane - car more likely. As for me, after serving and eating brunch, slept 11 am to 3 pm! Yesterday, had slept at 11 pm & woken today at 4:30 am, so making up? Bhajan time resolution of studying well partially executed. QM, a few sections from Schiff done. Tomorrow morning again resolve. No more moral classes - notice.
(The moral class notice was probably to enable the completion of syllabus before the end-semester exams which are approaching soon. Also, in those days, when Swami was out of Parthi, the Parthi campus students would have evening bhajans at the Hostel itself, and not go to Mandir.)
