1996-02-26 - Monday - Morning shifted mics from Auditorium to store-room (since no more Moral classes as announced yesterday), afternoon National amplifier & mic stands, evening got OHP bulb from Naren Sir and hovered as S4 & Sainath Sir put it in the OHP & changed Triac too - till 5 pm, so no tea.Vijayanand seminar on Bio OHP as live (wire) was shorted to earth instead of neutral ⇒ 3-4 fuses blew!
Study hours dreamed, prepared "Meteorology" file for QM & Prof's notes, got Gupta from GV Rao to read for seminar. Beautiful Michelson & Sagnac (interferometry) patterns - thin film simulation ...
1996-02-27 - Tuesday - Morning - Prof didn't turn up for class, so we finished Mach-Zehnder; showed to Sikka Sir in the afternoon & got permission for computer classes. C++ project GWP.PRJ - Linker error of repeated functions - later realized it was due to functions being declared in the .h itself.
Saw Tendulkar pyrotechnics after dinner after writing QM seminar before bhajan (day-night match vs Australia at Mumbai), but India lost by 16 runs.
1996-02-28 - Wednesday - Not eating lunch ("repairing" OHP) beneficial? Felt quite awake in the evening - maybe as I was doing interesting work mixing Rajeev Deokota's farewell song "We are the world" for tomorrow's program in the Institute Auditorium at 4 pm, and till then computer practicals. Or was it tea on an empty stomach? Then, (went to) new (School) Hostel - Shailesh Sir interested in speakers idea for school PA system. He bought 3.5 digit DMM (Digital Multi-Meter) for Rs. 350, mic for Rs. 120, FM mic Rs. 80, headphones Rs. 150, (wire) stripper Rs. 200!
1996-02-29 - Thursday - Only GV's class - we were 10 minutes late, he sent Jaipal (the attender) and fumed. Computer lab the whole day. Morning, trying to install C++ aborted by hard disk failure. Evening, got TZA4000 (amplifier) + 2 mics from Naren Sir with Mahesh (Chemistry), helped NS Balaji (Balti) to set up in (Hostel) quadrangle for sendoff for IIIrd UG and IInd PG. After bhajan (& dinner in D floor), program started at 8, ended at 11 pm. After winding up, slept at 12 midnight. Quite lively program, skits and music/songs by outgoing batch, very high standard. Clothes for workers from II PG, mementos for II and III yrs called by "names". (In later years, this sendoff morphed into the 'gratitude program' held in Mandir.)
