1996-10-07 - Monday - Tho' didn't sleep, didn’t read much either in the afternoon - moping. By night, found BE & FD stats - entire thing is left. Tempted by CSNK, KVA, NS, GVR (4 of my classmates) to leave it untouched.

1996-10-08 - Tuesday - Subconsciously lazy? From morning, searching PC Quest for computer data. Finally decided on notebook, provided Achan (Father) coughs up so much. "P5 75 MHz with CD ROM & sound card, 8 MB RAM, 500 MB HDD" etc are specs looked for. 1.5 lakhs! Maybe the differential will be less if "UPS cost" is considered. Stat Phy suffered.
PSN tho' interested, not taking GFT II as he’s busy preparing for GATE etc. PSN was feeling bad that KVA got low grades in practicals.
1996-10-09 - Wednesday - Whole day supposed to finish QFT, reached only ½ way! as slept afternoon till 3! after lunch, ⇒ insomnia at night, slept only ~12 o’clock, with extra problem of people putting on lights etc. to spread bed etc. at 11, 11.15, 11.30, 11.45 etc., Satya Sai coughing etc.
1996-10-10 - Thursday - Good progress in the morning + G.V. Rao having taken QM book ⇒ slept in afternoon. So just finished QFT by night.
Some drama due to 2-phase shorting - power put off for 10-15 mins ~ 8.30, candles + dining hall + new block unaffected.
Haircut - Shubham ...
ATP district health dept. came & spread "fog" from tractor ~6.45 pm all around (& in) hostel for killing mosquitos - quite effective, but not enough. Some are still left.
1996-10-11 - Friday - QM reading with long breaks - started only at ~9 after reading newspaper computer ads (HCL desktop seems best). After breezing along till 10, ½ hr break. Then ½ hr studied, lunch break. After lunch didn’t sleep but. Evening after bhajan self-declared mood-out, so till 8.15...

1996-10-12 - Saturday - Whole day read quite sincerely, so finished QM by 8.30. But unfortunate ennui ⇒ didn’t brush up formulae etc. then itself, left for the morrow.
Karwa ⇒ my calculator's in college, so substitute given by B. Chandra.
News that a cousin of mine had come, but he didn’t come to Hostel.
1996-10-13 - Sunday - QM so-so - almost all equations I wrote were wrong! Hopefully (I will get an) overall O (grade). Stat. Phys. scare ⇒ read from afternoon. By night, BE finished, FD left + revision of mid-semester stuff - seems like Chinese now!
1996-10-14 - Monday - By afternoon, reading mid-semester stuff from the mid-sem condensed notes. Karwa woke me at 1.30, so afternoon wasn’t wasted. By night writing condensed to super-condensed, reasonably confident of ½ syllabus, rest for tomorrow morning - R. Anand given water option to wake me at 3.30...
A³ (parents and sister) letter - Anch's (sister's) wedding May 22nd? ⇒ What’ll I do? (probably meaning that the date was tentatively fixed, and asking me my plans.) And asking Achan for the notebook now seems atrocious.
