1992-10-01 - Thursday - last Thursday assembly before exams

Condensing multiple days into a single page, since the content is limited.

1992-09-19 - Saturday - Rumours state Swami coming (to Brindavan) next Sunday.

1992-09-20 - Sunday - News that Swami went to Hostel at Parthi, very happy, a drama was staged, now to be staged in Institute Auditorium. Swami went to C floor, to R's wing Prayer Hall (used by VIII / IX std boys).

1992-09-21 - Monday - One by one, all teachers postponed tough assignments. Chem. practicals test, M102 seminar, M101 test. Finally, last one was very simple, 8:30 to 9. Then, Parayanam - Sir narrated a story of Swami saving gold miners in Peru using a deer, a hawk and a man.

1992-09-22 - Tuesday - Awareness zero hour today and tomorrow. Exam next Sunday. Full study hours, was writing on transparencies for Seminar. Satya's (seminar) yesterday was throughout looking at notes. Today, Arvind did a little better, but was asking Sir to move on to every topic.

1992-09-23 - Wednesday - No water (in the taps at the Hostel) in the morning. LP - Sir asked for homework. None got. Said OK, do next week. 3 sums a day, whole week. Arvind went for drama practice, so I gave seminar - he will complete his part tomorrow. I couldn't explain as well as I wanted and muffed a little on equations in derivations.

1992-09-24 - Thursday - Sanskrit, Math, Chem prac, Phy prac, all coming. English day, music program - half Nepalis - was very good. Poems, Merchant of Venice court scene, Eternal Conflict skit with Captain Haddock, Asterix, etc.

1992-09-25 - Friday - Got cassette from Sumesh of Interview of 12th Sep. 4:30 to 6:20 was trying to write (transcribe it with pen and paper) with Pingali's Walkman. Tough, as no pause (button). Took Prashanth's tape recorder. Studied Awareness in study hours. Told Ravi Kiran + Mani to wake me at 2 AM for writing from cassette.

1992-09-26 - Saturday - Got up at 3 AM on my own, wrote till 5 to complete (the transcription mentioned in the previous day's entry.) Mani offered, without me asking, to take me to Institute Communications Workshop to dub. Went - Videocon mini-deck, Hi-speed. Sent carbon copy (by post) to A3 (parents and sister). Vidya Vahini (Awareness course first semester) end semester exam tomorrow.

1992-09-27 - Sunday - 9:30 exam - better than expected, bits very bad. Narahari Sir was talking to Srikant, etc on Meditation, etc. Sinus headache. Funny yellow liquid was coming out of my nose in the evening - around a drop every 5 minutes for 30 minutes. ?!?

1992-09-28 - Monday - Fluid again came out of nose when I bent down in the morning. Nowadays, no boys allowed to play shuttle (disciplinary action), so I am playing only carroms. Posted A3 (parents and sister) big letter. Chem pracs test - I got the double salt NH4+, Al3+, Cl-, CO32-. Got all reactions nicely. In Viva, he asked, "On what basis do you say this is the structure?". So, not so good. Every morning, 7:30 to 8 Veda Chanting at Dining Hall - 3 different groups chanting different things - like in (the Dasara Veda Purusha) Saptaha Yagna. Till Vijaya Dasami, i.e. all days of Dasara.

1992-09-29 - Tuesday - Sanskrit - Sir discussed some questions, told us don't write down, later tore up page in Sikki's book where he had written. Phy Viva was dead easy. Satyanarayana, my partner, fumbled a lot, they said they'll separate us next semester. Read "Destination Moon" in 10 minutes before study hours, at Reading Room*.

1992-09-30 - Wednesday - Some free hours at last. Used (them) to study Chem. (M101). Sanskrit Sir, as if to allay, said some external is setting paper. English Model Paper - very long. A3 (parents and sister) letter - stay with Swami, He is our All. Also a poem by Anch. Talking to Rajesh Singh and Kshitij Gupte in Hindi to improve it.

1992-10-01 - Thursday - Physics - two special classes. English special class. (Today is the) last Thursday assembly. Exams nigh. Read "Explorers on the Moon" in 10 minutes before study hours.

*Reading room - this used to be in the basement at Brindavan, where we could read periodicals, comics and so on without taking them out of the room.

Other facilities' locations at Brindavan in those days - tailor's shop below the staircase leading from the dining hall up to room A1, barber's shop below the entrance lobby, computer centre in room A3, chapati rolling room in the basement under room A7/A8. There was also a bakery in the basement - I think it was below room A5.
