1992-10-06 - Tuesday - Vijayadasami - Studied Physics, but not complete. One day each for Sanskrit, Physics, Math 102, two for Chemistry, Math 101, English. Whatever books I have, I will read. Read some problems from Resnick and Halliday. One sweet and fruit salad for dinner.
1992-10-07 - Wednesday - Chemistry started. Took quite a lot of notes from Huheey. But found other books better. Cold still terrific. Using a towel for wiping stuff from nose as two hankies get saturated. When eating, nose fully blocked. Evening did it - some reason or no reason - Rajesh Singh was telling me that R sir, U sir and A sir go to (the Audio visual room to) see Wednesday Chitrahaar - all exposes etc. But mind not much disturbed, by Swami's grace.
1992-10-08 - Thursday - Swami let me finish Chem note making to OK values. From many books - some contradictions also. Using Sikki's muffler and my sweater while sleeping, in the evening, etc. Getting up in the mornings around Suprabhatam time, but not going for it, instead bath and Vedam class, Bhriguvalli at 6 AM.
1992-10-09 - Friday - Something happened - cold became less and became feverish. In the middle of that, the other nose ran. Didn't study much, only wrote down the Sanskrit text. Decided, during bhajans, to be soft-spoken.
1992-10-10 - Saturday - Math 101, Integrals very frustrating as silly mistakes seem unavoidable. Kept doing sums. Wasted a lot of time.
1992-10-11 - Sunday - Very tough to study in the room. Someone would be causing a disturbance all the time. People shouting all the time. Also my fault, no concentration. Also, so many doubts are asked, very interrrupted work. Jaya cheriamma (mother's younger sister) came to visit me for the first time, gave gulab jamuns, chocolates, cutlets.
1992-10-12 - Monday - Yesterday, the thinna (raised platform) around the tree (of Sai Ram Shed fame) was broken and the 3x3 inch plate Swami had kept there long back in the 60s or so, Navagrahas, was taken out. I saw it, he (Bhutia sir) touched my forehead with it.

Studying English today and tomorrow, 3 books + prose + poetry. Rajesh Singh's bombshell - Warden sir (nicknamed Dhoti) hears old film songs in his room, U, A, R go and see Wednesday Chitrahaar (as written last Wednesday). He says he wants to (censored) all of them.
Teenagers are very allergic to perceived hypocrisy. These are people who are supposed to enforce the strict discipline of the Hostel, but are themselves seen to have "feet of clay". Hence R's anger. Later on in life, my understanding was that all human beings have some weakness or the other. If they had none, they would not be on Earth! It is our job on Earth to (paraphrasing Swami and Jesus Christ) see the good in all and try to emulate the good, while trying our utmost to identify and eradicate all the undesirable traits in ourselves.
