1992-12-14 - Monday - Preparing for Quiz and Vedam Competition, no studies! Last night, saw cricket till 2 AM, still was active whole day, so didn't feel sleepy. Shankar Narayan (classmate) had breathing trouble, acute, Narahari Sir had to come and give medicine + MRG (M Raja Ganesh's) inhaler - so I went to see the match - lights were on. I'm pairing with Sikkivahan for Vedam (competition, I think.)
1992-12-15 - Tuesday - Marching - started synchronising. Some patterns to be formed by the whole group, divided into 16s, we top 16 practised first. Some 2 mts. Letter from Rajesh Grover (classmate in school, doing BCom at Parthi) Swami was unhappy with Parthi boys after reaching there from Brindavan - bad thoughts, too much talk. Only a week - Swami coming (for darshan) and going (into the interview room) before boys come (for darshan) etc. Then boys surrounded Swami and (everything became) all right. Teased MBA boys about exam, gassed about "all Brindavan boys jumping off the hill (for sports meet), no classes for them, training!
A similar session in the Verandah at Parthi - from this video.
1992-12-16 - Wednesday - Results (of the first semester) announced. The only 5 in 1st year is MRG, next is me, 4.77 - only due to B grade in English End Sem exam, overall O + B = A. (In those years, the Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning had a 5 point grade point system. O is outstanding, above 80 or 85 percent depending on the subject. A is the next grade, next to that is B, and below that would be fail. If a student got O grade in all subjects, that would result in a grade point average of 5/5.) Shankar Narayan very upset - Bs in English and Addl. English pulled him down to 3.84, O grade is 4.5. I expected my results, he didn't expect his. I am the topper of 1st year MPC (Maths Physics Chemistry), but lowest GPA compared to other classes except 1st BCom, 4.64, Sikkivahan, who is the only O grade in 1st BCom. Shankar cried, Mani (room leader, two years senior to us) pacified, took two days to stabilize. Rajesh Singh overall A grade, 4.3.
1992-12-17 - Thursday - Read some Tintin, Asterix, other comics. No mood to study. Our room is a sort of Yagnasala, Desikan (Venkata), B. Krishna, Ratnakar Chawla, practising for tomorrow's Vedam competition. Moral Class - QUIZ - B won over A, 28-24. Narrow, I (Swami) answered quite a few trick questions - mostly such questions. So, a prize in hand, no need to exert. (Since I was in the B team which won the Quiz competition, I would be getting a prize from Swami, which was the aim). Stotram competition at 3.30, joined, all muffed. Entered Vedam interpretation also as seemed easy; got consolation prize. Sikki 2nd (Vedam chanting), Harshavardhan 1st.
