4:15 to 5 am songs (over the PA system at Hostel, which is earlier than the usual 5 to 5:30 time) - 1993 Summer Course - very suitable. Then, bath with Kshitij's things, as my bucket, mug, etc are already in the Reading Room (for storage during the Vacation). Packed bed during music. We went to the Mandir at 6:20. You came out at 6:45, waving to us, went off (by car, to Kodai). The railway gate was closed, so moved slowly. Vibhuti from Mr. Bhutia (caretaker of Brindavan).
Packed clothes, ate kadalamithai (chikki), ready. No place for soiled whites etc - 1 set - so kept inside Sudeep's bed. (He was also from Calicut, so we were travelling together.) Reached (Whitefield) railway station around 8, 8:40 Marikuppam (passenger train) to Bangalore station at 9:30. Can't cross the road directly to go from the railway station to the bus station opposite - 0.5 to 0.75 km walk. Girisha called an auto, Sudeep and I joined. Enquiry (office of the Kerala RTC) rude Koya, 2 pm next bus. Cloak room for suitcases, escorted Girisha to his bus; though I had only one suitcase, carried two suitcases, Girisha's and Sanjiva's (1st year) to Whitefield railway station, and now to Girisha's bus. Then, 'in search of Burma Bazar' to kill time till 2. Walked by Girisha's "go straight" instructions - saw many shops, thought that area was Burma Bazar. Then, Hajee Jana Department Store, British Airways headphone, Rs. 175 - contemplated, dropped as the salesman wasn't enthusiastic. Then, a small Malayali's shop - same thing, good demo, Rs. 180 - brought down from Rs. 200 - bought. Sapna Book House - no 'Random Harvest'. Then saw the real Burma Bazar. It's a sort of conglomeration of stalls, quite small, all duplicate goods.
Finally walked back, ate chapati/dosa at Kamath hotel, drank juices from bus stop, green KSRTC ERN bus, 2 to 10:45 pm bus journey. Stopped for coconut water + lunch at 3 & dinner at 9:30 pm. Fog on ghats, stuck for 15 minutes. Thinking of You, sang bhajans mentally, clapping kept hands warm.
Sudeep wanted to eat dinner at KSRTC stand, I wanted to go home and sleep, so convinced him that something will be available at home. 1.5 times meter rate only (charged by the autorickshaw driver, since it was night). Decent. A3 (parents and sister) happy, told them to sleep. Kept cassettes for Achan's (Father's) present hidden in Anch's (sister's) room.
