1994-07-17 - Sunday - setting up audio upgrades

A picture postcard from my "Swami albums"

Yesterday just didn't end! S. G. Sir called for SRH (Sai Ramesh Hall) speaker connections' LTUs (Line-matching Transformer Units) connections around 8:30 pm. Also, snake (cable with multipe connections) from near Ganesa statue - 12 inputs. Worked + tested till 6:45 AM today. Then, bath, breakfast, darsan (sevadal bhajans). Echo box too, for Gents bhajans. Finally slept 10 am to 12 noon and 1:45 to 3 pm. Confusion with inputs, slightly. Electrical work - they took the speakers' stools, leaving the speakers on piles of 10-10 chairs. 12 Peavey speakers + Ahuja columns on top, driven by 2 SSA 250s (amplifiers) + Peavey amp respectively. Entirely rewired SRH - by the extrovert electrician.

Then, Swami delayed Trayee session ("Tell boys to wait") so that we three - BK, Chaitanya and I - could sit in front. Letters from Parthi, VIII, X class boys. Butterfly card. Read out by Warden, Swami. Parthi boys coming tomorrow, 2 PM.

Discourse -

Asking boys - "Will give whatever you ask for, if you will tell Me the answer - what is the number of pains for man? According to Vedanta?" None of the answers were right. Finally, "Anil!" - There are 4 - Abhimaana Klesha, Asthita Klesha, Raaga Klesha, Dwesha Klesha

(1) -> mind gives only misery. Even the liberation it gives is only temporary. Like Vivekananda's samadhi on Ramakrishna's touch. Don't put vision on mind - then, OK.

(2) -> think senses' enjoyment is aim of life. But how is then man different from animals? Discretion - Vichakshana. Gargi to Janaka.

(3) -> Raaga (attachment) really is cause of Roga (disease). Think Raaga (song) will remove Roga. Madbhakthaah Yatra Gaayante - not Kacheri concert singing, but singing with devotion.

(4) -> Dwesha - anger hurts self. Sathyabhama Krishna Tulabhaara. God is satisfied by giving a little, then gives lots.

So, Swami says, give Love - only to get more in return. Eg. Draupadi, Kuchela. Bharatheeya culture - leaves CO2 etc, Kolam for ants.
