1996-07-23 - Tuesday - Listed QM questions. 2nd hr also 901, mostly waste. Shailesh Sir’s picked up
speed now - still explaining well. Optics lab - wasted ~2 hrs looking for 40 MHz (signal) with wrong horizontal (scale) setting (on oscilloscope). Patnaik put (the correct setting) ⇒ got. Vasavi oscilloscope calibration - whole evening. Milloni, Feynman Lectures ⇒ study hrs gone. Matlab, too.
1996-07-24 - Wednesday - Matlab reading 1st hr. Awareness class discussion on "Why poverty when Baba's here." Ranging to why Benz and silk robe to Karma theory. 4th and 5th hours Shailesh sir ⇒ finished broadening & Voigt profile! Matlab study hrs after bringing altar back.
1996-07-25 - Thursday - Gangadhar Shastri Sir, speech on Tilak. Optics - got 80 MHz, but a lot of noise, too ⇒ Vishwanath Sir wanted error analysis. This time, exams will be tough - Stat Phy, QM, QE & P, even Comp Tech in Phy. (All the papers had tough sections - Statistical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Electronics and Photonics, Computational Techniques in Physics.)
1996-07-26 - Friday - Devsen Sir’s class - OSI model - all feel dissatisfied ⇒ S4 trying to discontinue. Shell programming - Bourne Shell going strong... Evening, class by a "foreign" man - from Compaq? for M.Tech (M), we also attended - on TCP/IP - very general stuff, "agent" etc - software stuff, mgt. "Waste of time" - S4 - at last, he saw the light - "We should do our own work."
1996-07-27 - Saturday - Finally the bhajan database (software written as part of lab) is running. Many modifications like name + deity can be added, but basic system is working - with uppercase translation. Sai Pita Aur Mata Sai then entered...
Large crowds in Mandir - for Gurupoornima - reports Sai Sir, 100 people near each horn… (outdoor speakers kept at various places in the Ashram compound).
1996-07-28 - Sunday - Mandir noise level unabated, perhaps more now with BRN + other crowds.
Holidays ⇒ rhythm gone, so writing diary on Tuesday. (Slept afternoon). Naren Sir going for mic practice of symphony orchestra.
1996-07-29 - Monday - Many Allah bhajans - Industrialists + Vajpayee + Advani? present. Huge crowds. All around mandir packed.
Night, after symphony (21 mics) & dinner, returned to find all ready - keyboards, also mics. (Meaning that when I returned to Mandir to help with setting up mics for tomorrow's music program, everything had already been set up.)
1996-07-30 - Tuesday - Gurupoornima - After music program debacle, (not to Your liking, shlokas out of beat & not starting after music pieces), You got sweets distributed. Then talked to industrialists inside Bhajan hall about water project - didn’t use mic which was kept.
Evening discourse + speeches all poking LK Advani of BJP - "don’t criticise other religions…"
