1996-08-03 - Saturday - Stat Phy in College. Mr. Nanjundan Kumar trying to repair oscilloscopes... By night (revision of) thermodynamics over. Full Stat Phy is left! But confident, as barber said will come tomorrow at 1. (I would feel more at ease with short hair.)
Our room lights off by 10.30 pm without pressure, other rooms on. A18 study room is still closed.
1996-08-04 - Sunday - Morning darshan read one long answer, rest thought of You. After brunch, 1½ hrs QM, haircut.
Evening chit ⇒ sat front - QM. By night, only stimulated emission was left. Couldn’t get A3 (parents and sister) on phone.
1996-08-05 - Monday - QM (question paper was) long but OK. Was waiting in 3rd lab ⇒ till prayer, read. Finished by 11 only - 2 hrs complete. Read Stallings xerox in the afternoon. Mandir null. Software engg study hrs. Numerical methods & 1 chapter of Stallings are left.
1996-08-06 - Tuesday - Software engg - had to "gas off" for one vague question, rest OK. Afternoon slept, Stat Phy after that, full speed. By night, canonical ensemble & paramagnetism left for tomorrow. "Stern measures" ⇒ lights off by 10.40 pm, only 3 boys left in room - myself & the Maths boys. Others in A18 study room.
1996-08-07 - Wednesday - Vishwanath Sir gave an easy Stat Mech paper. After that, washing, ironing... Told roommates, "After exam, do you want Swami to talk? Or do you want to talk? Choice is yours", for instant cessation of "ghost stories" session.
1996-08-08 - Thursday - Quite uneventful. Q.E & P (Quantum Electronics and Photonics) was a "Tirupati excursion", as expected. (meaning "our heads were clean shaved", meaning it was very tough.) Shailesh Sir's both problems - I muffed! Took He atoms' mass also for Doppler effects, used wrong formula for stimulated emission cross section. Night tried to phone A3, couldn't get through.
