1996-12-13 - Friday - Read "Early Isaac Asimov"& "A day in the life of Ivan Denisovitch" - no classes as AV & KS are in Madras, KBR, KVR in Planetarium with "repairs with Italians". Took Nevil Shute's "On the Beach" & "Lord of the Flies" from Hostel Library.
1996-12-14 - Saturday - Morning - tried out most of the TCWIN examples. Afternoon - played chess with it and lost every time within 20 moves. Sainath Sir's grapher / surfer tutorial 11 to 12.
1996-12-15 - Sunday - Slept before lunch, after lunch read "On the Beach". Evening QED, night attempted 1004 assignments.
1996-12-16 - Monday - Everything feels like a drag - KVR & AV related respective adventures (Space Theatre repair & Madras Photonics-96 respectively) - MS keeps going with equations equations all the way.
Carols practice started in foyer - Shivkumar Nagesh, of course. I think he helps SS with school teaching carols too.
1996-12-17 - Tuesday - "O Holy Night" - new carol - "Traditional carol", by SS. Compu practicals typing mouse test program ... no time to test. Optics - checked (after bhajan, continued) - DAC dead. ADC working. MS gave Herzberg (Molecular Spectra), read in study hours. Mandir "No full stops in India", Mark Tully.
1996-12-18 - Wednesday - From "No full stops...", inspired to take "വിശ്വാമിത്രൻ" കുട്ടികൃഷ്ണ മാരാർ - only available in Malayalam, in Hostel Library. SS hailed me - "Sai Ram. SOI". "SOI, Sir?" "Scowl on Interrupt". About what I'd told him I'd observed in him, nearly a month back. So, he's taking it up to be cheerful! Like me, on Brahmo's "Why don't you keep quiet, wash & go off", deciding to cut talk.
1996-12-19 - Thursday - PG Elocution final. 9th semester results - Satya (PSN) & I 5 (meaning a GPA of 5/5), the rest As. "Hari's mouse test" works. Tested shift registers, to think of logic for handshaking is the next step (serial to parallel conversion). Srinivas drew a chess game with the 486 (meaning that the game ended in a draw when he played against the computer), he is confident of winning.
