2020-09-06 - Making lemonade from lemons, or Rava Dosa during a pandemic

From this video, from this youtube channel.

As Karuna Didi wrote, "Whatever is there inside the cup is what will spill out. Covid has bumped into all of us and we are all spilling what is inside us. What we carry within, is what we toss around when shaken.  Because we are involved in divine seva, we are getting filled with bliss from the source within. That bliss/joy/feeling of being productive and worthy is what is spilling as Content creation, ... etc."

In my case too, You've blessed me to have a succession of 'remote' tasks, keeping my mind occupied, happy and contented with 7-8 hours of work per day, at my own pace. And being able to do work which I love to do is a great, great blessing.

Daily constitutionals for Vitamin D and general health, apples and other food items from my loyal brothers - keeps the body in condition. And the flexible schedule of remote work allows for experimentation like making rava dosa with MTR Rava dosa mix - my first cooking experience with an electric coil hot-plate.

The whole process took less time than I expected, but I did have some surprises. 45 minutes to make the batter, 3 rava dosas + wash up.

  • Probably drizzling 1 teaspoon of ghee per dosa was excessive.
  • I need to switch off the hot-plate before I pour the batter with a metal katori, I suspect a bit of a leakage current.
  • And the pan must be cooled by sprinkling water before pouring batter, or else the batter will stick and not spread smoothly.
  • The heat and fumes was the unexpected part - I didn't expect rava dosa to create so much fumes, again the excess of ghee may have been responsible.
  • I must be mentally prepared for the minor stinging of the batter micro-drops evaporating and hitting my skin when I pour with a katori and not a ladle.
  • I must also be ready to wait patiently once the batter is poured - the dosa is not ready instantly, must wait a few minutes for it to cook.
